This limited edition Japanese Indigo workwear cap features a hint of wave smocking on the hat band to add subtle detail and embrace the smockworks signature style.

The indigo fabric is from the Aizenkobo workshop in Kyoto which I visited several years ago and is produced using the method of natural fermented pure Japanese indigo dyeing, as opposed to chemical based indigo. The fermentation process can take up to two weeks and depending on the depth of colour required an item must be dipped and then sun-dried between 20 and 50 times, a process that can take months. The result is a beautiful rich indigo colour with a soft handfeel. The cap is lined with contrast print Japanese fabric and tonal dark indigo topstitch.

Each of our products is made to order by one of our highly skilled smockworkers which takes up to 10 days. If you require your item sooner then please let us know. For further information about shipping please click here.
